The Scottish Highlands

The destination was Isle of Skye, way way up there in northern Scotland. It was a five hour drive from St. Andrews. We rented a car and I drove the whole way up in heavy rain in classic Scottish style, on the left side of the road, two lane highway. It was a real challenge and every time a truck thundered by I thought I was going to die. So we made a few stops at the lochs and in Glencoe on the way up...

Logging
There was a surprising amount of logging going on in the highlands from what I could tell. It seemed more or less organized, with big square plots of land shaved bare, then next to it a plot with short trees, then next to that a plot with medium trees, and so on and so forth all the way to full grown trees. Tree farming.
